We’ll see one of the best games of Friday night as Xavier and Butler will go at it. This has typically been two of the best teams in the Big East throughout the past decade, and that doesn’t look to be changing this year as Xavier is coming in as the #13 ranked team in America. While Butler has struggled a bit this year, we can still expect one of the best games of the year in the Big East, as these two teams always have incredible battles. Below, we will be looking at the best Xavier vs. Butler bets.
Could Xavier Struggle Here?
When looking at what Xavier has done this season, it’s easy to see why people have this team in the top 10. Although they did just get tough news about Zach Freemantle being out, this team is still legit, and they’re hopeful that he could possibly return for March Madness. Either way, Xavier has other players that have stepped up for them this year, and that’s been clear in what they’ve been able to do throughout the entire season. They’re coming off a highly impressive 25-point win against St John’s on Saturday and also beat Providence a week ago. This team has now won two in a row.
They sit at 13-1 on their home court, but just 5-2 in away games. That could be something to remember here as Butler is going to be playing this one at home.
Will Butler Turn it Around?
Butler might not be having the same type of season that they’re typically used to, sitting at just 12-13 overall and 4-10 in the Big East. However, this team has proven that they can be an above-average team, and if things do start going their way, they could make some noise in the Big East tournament if everything went perfectly.
Although that does seem like a dream at this point for them, we can’t rule out the possibility of that. Butler is the typical March team, as they always find a way to find more success when it matters most. Their most recent games are a bit disappointing outside of their win against St John’s, as they lost by 21 points to Seton Hall and eight points against Marquette. Those are two above-average teams, but Butler could have taken care of business against one of them, at least.

Due to this game being such a rivalry, it might not be a bad idea to play Butler with the +7.5 on their home court. Although they certainly haven’t been the better team here, Xavier is going to be missing their best player and has struggled more on the road than at home this year. The sample size might not be big in terms of their road games, as they only played seven games on the road, but it’s a bit telling here, and 7.5 points is still a lot in a Big East game.
Because of that, we don’t think it’s a bad idea to back Butler in this one and even potentially see them get back on track and win this game outright.
