Spurs Looking to Finish Strong

The San Antonio Spurs are coming off of a 116-106 road loss to the Washington Wizards just two days ago. Spur’s center Lamarcus Aldridge suffered a bruised knee in the road loss and may not play in their first round playoff preview at home against the Thunder. With Lamarcus Aldridge out Pau Gasol may be asked to play an even larger role in the matchup.
San Antonio’s projected starting five
PG Dejounte Murray 7.7 PPG
SG Patty Mills 9.7 PPG
SF Danny Green 8.8 PPG
PF Kyle Anderson 6 PPG
C Pau Gasol 10.5 PPG (Lamarcus Aldridge-questionable-23.1 PPG)

The Spurs are already a shell of themselves with their leading star, small forward Kwami Leonard. In his absence the Spurs leaned heavily on the 32 year old Aldridge and he has delivered with one of the best scoring seasons of his career. With Leonard and Aldridge not on the floor, it will be hard for the Spurs to compete with the talented roster of the Oklahoma Thunder. The San Antonio spurs are currently the 6th team in the west with a 43-32 win-loss record.

Thunder Seeking To Gel for Postseason

The Oklahoma City Thunder went all in on the 2017-2018 season with a re-vamped roster of big name talent to help reigning MVP Russell Westbrook return to the promise land. The Thunder made headlines acquiring super stars Carmelo Anthony and Paul George in order to compete in the super-team theme atmosphere of today’s NBA. The Thunder was last on the court in a 108-105 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on their home court. Carmelo Anthony only scored 6 points in 29 minutes against the Trailblazers on 3-13 shooting and a goose egg from behind the arc in five attempts.

Oklahoma Thunder’s projected starting five
PG Russell Westbrook 25.4 PPG
SG Corey Brewer 4.8 PPG
SF Paul George 21.6 PPG
PF Carmelo Anthony 16.3PPG
C Steven Adams 14.1 PPG

The Oklahoma City Thunder needs play well and get back in the win column against an injured Spurs squad to stay ahead of the pack in the tightly contested Western conference. Maybe feeling the pressure a bit, Carmelo Anthony guaranteed a spot in the playoffs after his poor performance in the Thunder’s last loss.

The Oklahoma City Thunder can beat any NBA team on any given night, no matter the venue or matchup. The fact that the Spurs have several key injuries and they are on short rest after a road game makes beating a well-rested Thunder team playing with a chip on their shoulder a tall order.

Thunder Win on the Road

However, the crafty Spurs always seem game when it comes to finding a way to pulling out unexpected wins and the Thunder do have a hard time beating the Spurs in San Antonio. Despite the Thunder dropping four straight at AT&T Arena, the Thunder have the clear advantage in this particular match-up. Bet the Thunder -3 over the Spurs on Thursday.  In fact – take the Thunder 99-91.
