NBA Players Starting To Recover From Coronavirus

The time spent without the NBA has not been enjoyable for players, coaches, fans, or executives. But, with every passing day, we are (hopefully) one day closer to getting back to action. And with more time going by, it means that there is some good news: A few of the NBA players who tested positive for COVID-19, have recovered.

The player who started the whole league-wide pandemic, making some silly decisions along the way, is now cured. Utah center Rudy Gobert was seen putting his hands all over the microphones after a session with the Jazz media, testing positive for the virus just two days later.

But now, he’s cured, and his poor decisions were the first of many cautionary tales from celebrities to heed the serious warnings put out there. Gobert was in the midst of another fantastic year with the Utah Jazz, a team that was going to be headed to yet another postseason. It’s nice to see the Stifle Tower healthy once again.

His teammate, Donovan Mitchell, tested positive for the virus a few weeks back as well. And not surprisingly, the recovery news for the two of them came out at the same time.

Mitchell testing positive was a big scare due to the fact that Gobert was his teammate, and they spent all that time together, it put the whole team at risk. Thankfully, only the two of them tested positive, and only a select few players who played against Utah prior to the league shutdown obtained the virus.

Mitchell is a key cog for the Utah Jazz and a player that has been putting the league on notice for each of his three years in the association. He was selected to the All-Star Game this year, and his NBA future is one that is very bright.

The third and final player that is known to have recovered from COVID-19 is Pistons big man Christian Wood. He had a big game for the Pistons against the Jazz, and the fact that he covered Gobert for most of the game is the biggest reason for him catching it.

The former G-League Player of the Year proved this season that his future in this league might be extremely bright. He has been putting up big numbers on the nightly and has proven himself to be a consistent player. He made the team with the 15th roster spot after they cut a rejuvenated Joe Johnson.

It will be fun to see what Wood can do in the years to come in this league.

Others Unsure

It is unclear if Marcus Smart and Kevin Durant, the two other players whose positive test results are public, have recovered. But the best news is that the virus has not had lasting effects on the NBA community, and their loved ones did not catch it from them.

Somebody we need to keep in our thoughts and prayers with are the parents of Karl-Anthony Towns. They both have the coronavirus, and his mother is also currently in a coma.
