Money Lines Crush NFL Bettors for Fourth Straight Week

The money lines with the most lopsided action did not turn out how sports bettors hoped on Sunday.  There was far more success at spreads and totals this week.

Week 4 Point Spread Results

Point spreads with 70 percent or more of the tickets written went 7-12 during the first three Sundays of the NFL season.  Spreads went 4-2 today, improving the season’s record to 11-14.

This week’s biggest public point spread wagers were:

• Atlanta -3 (91%) L
• Indianapolis -7.5 (84%) W
• Pittsburgh -7 (76%)  L
• Green Bay -2 (75%) W
• Detroit -2 (72%) W
• Miami -3.5 (70%) W

Week 4 Money Line Results

Two of the three biggest money line ticket percentages lost.  Both were big favorites.  Pittsburgh busted as a -330 favorite, while Falcons backers lost -160.  The public was on five underdogs, four of which lost.  Dallas was the only dog the large public bettors hit (sites like Bovada and BetOnIt.org had Dallas favored over the struggling Saints). The total record was 3-6 with a loss of $550 betting $100 units.

• Indianapolis – 355 (88%) W
• Atlanta – 160 (87%) L
• Buffalo +130 (86%) L
• Philadelphia +200 (83%) L
• Dallas +140 (80%) W

• Detroit -125 (71%) W

The cumulative money line record for NFL Sunday money line wagers with 70 percent or more of the tickets written is 13-18.  That is quite an impressive loss considering many of the 18 were favorites, some over 3-1.

Week 4 Totals

The NFL betting public went 4-0 on Sunday on three overs and an under:

• New Orleans/Dallas over 53.5 (94%) W
• Tennessee/Indianapolis over 46 (84%) W
• Detroit/New York Jets under 44.5 (79%) W
• Carolina/Baltimore over 40.5 (74%) W

This brings the first four Sundays in at 15-9-1.
