Monday Night Football: Tennessee Titans at Dallas Cowboys

If you thought last week’s MNF game between the Bills and Patriots was bad, wait until this week. Both of these teams come into the game under .500 with poorly functioning offenses that hardly score. Dallas has 13 offensive TD’s in seven weeks, while the Titans have just eight.

Mariota took 12 sacks in a game a few weeks back, and has not looked the same as last year. For Dak, this is the debut of Amari Cooper, who they hope can save their offense.

Titans Struggles Continue

The Titans scored 20+ points three times in the first four weeks en route to their 3-1 start, and looked like they may be playoff bound again. Well, not exactly. They have dropped three games in a row, only averaging 11.0 points per game in these games. They have played horribly on offense, and the defense has not been doing enough. Derrick Henry has taken a major step back in his development, while Dion Lewis is somehow leading this team in rushing. The loss of Delanie Walker is an impact that has surely been felt around the team. Nothing is going well.

The D-Line is averaging two sacks per game, and have only picked off opposing QB’s five times. Corey Davis has been solid with 30 catches for 395 yards, but nobody has been as efficient as him, with Tajae Sharpe #2 with 222 yards. It is hard to say exactly what the issue with the team is, but one might point to the hiring of Mike Vrabel. They tried to go for two against the Chargers, and well, failed, and lost.

Cowboys Seeking .500

Dak Prescott hasn’t been too much better than Marcus Mariota. He’s got 1,417 yards, 8 TD’s, and 4 INT’s. He’s run for 236 yards and two more touchdowns. Ezekiel Elliott has 619 yards and three rushing touchdowns, with almost five yards per carry. Cole Beasley has 350 receiving yards and two scores, but no other receiver has been very efficient. They are hoping that this Amari Cooper trade will help to get the offense going. The Redskins loss this week moves them to two games back of first. There is time.

The D-Line has been solid, with 19.5 sacks this year. DeMarcus Lawrence has been putting a lot of pressure on opposing QB’s, but aside from Jaylon Smith, not too many players have been able to make too big an impact. They have only TWO defensive interceptions, and if they can get pressure on Mariota and pick him off, that could be it.

Cowboys extend Titans skid to four, move back to .500

Yes, we’re riding with Dallas tonight, as Amari Cooper is going to make a positive impact. It’s his first game so we cannot expect too much, but he’ll do enough.

Tennessee’s dreadful offense will be a little better this week, but not good enough to lift them to the W. Dak will help them get it done. Bet on the Cowboys at home.
