Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves Game 3 Betting Preview

As Los Angeles and Atlanta get set to play the third game of their series, things could take a turn for the worse. A Dodgers loss would require them to win four games in as many days if they want to reach the World Series.

Each of the first two games was decided in the ninth inning. Atlanta broke a 1-1 tie in Game 1 by plating four, earning a 5-1 win. And in Game 2, Atlanta added to their lead and saw the Dodgers score four in the bottom of the ninth. If the Braves hadn’t done any work in the top half of the inning, the series is tied.

Atlanta is playing with more confidence so far, and it’s clearly showing. The ability of their hitters to perform throughout the lineup has been a joy to watch. There are so many young stars on the team, now performing against the team everybody expected to win the World Series.

Every game for the Dodgers from here on out has to be considered a must-win.

ODDS:

The Dodgers’ moneyline is -182, while it’s set at +155 for the Braves.

Dodgers Trying to Dodge 0-3 Hole

A loss would all but doom the Dodgers, who had to use plan B in Game 2. Clayton Kershaw was supposed to start, but he got scratched with back issues. And Tony Gonsolin was not able to do the job. Kershaw has struggled throughout the playoffs in his career, but you never know what might have happened.

Los Angeles brought the tying run within 90 feet of scoring, but AJ Pollock’s groundout put the game to rest. They plated four in the ninth, but it came too late. Where were all of those fireworks when they went through the lineup the first few times? They cost themselves this one.

Julio Urias will get the nod in Game 3. Against San Diego, he fired five innings, only allowing one hit and striking out six. And he threw three scoreless innings in an outing against Milwaukee.

Braves on the Precipice

Two more wins and the Atlanta Braves will be in the World Series for the first time since 1999. It should probably be more recent, but they have always found a way to screw things up when it came to big games. That has yet to happen this year.

Freddie Freeman and Ozzie Albies have been hitting the cover off the ball, with Mark Melancon now catching two Albies home runs in the Atlanta bullpen. Ronald Acuna is doing a fantastic job of getting on base for them at the top of the lineup.

Kyle Wright will make his second start of the postseason. He didn’t allow a run in six innings against Miami on October 8th. He struck out seven while walking two and allowing three hits.
