Los Angeles Dodgers at San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants continue their four-game series with one another on Wednesday night.

After winning the first two games of the series, the Dodgers are road favorites on Wednesday with a moneyline of -165, while San Francisco’s moneyline is set at +140. The over/under for the game is listed at 7.5 runs.

With wins in the first two games of the series, the Dodgers have won six of their last seven games, once again heating up.

They’ve also won all six head-to-head meetings with the Giants over the past two weeks. In fact, Los Angeles is now 37 games over .500 and holds an 11.5-game lead atop the NL West.

Meanwhile, the Giants have fallen two games under .500 with their back-to-back losses to open this series. San Francisco has been spiraling for over a month and is just 3-10 since the all-star break.

Yet another slump has taken the Giants 4.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

On the Cobb

Veteran Alex Cobb will take the mound for San Francisco on Wednesday. The righty is 3-5 with a 4.06 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP over his first 16 starts of the season.

However, Cobb has pitched well over his last eight starts since returning from the IL, lowering his ERA from 6.04 to 4.06 during that time and posting a 2.75 ERA over his six starts in July.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco lineup is struggling to get going, averaging just 3.6 runs per game over the last six games. Wilmer Flores is scorching-hot at the moment, while catcher Joey Bart is finally starting to come around.

However, the Giants aren’t getting much from the rest of their lineup, especially with Evan Longoria, Brandon Crawford, and Joc Pederson on the IL.

Julio Down by the Schoolyard

Lefty Julio Urias will try to keep the San Francisco lineup under wraps on Wednesday. Over his first 20 starts of the season, Urias is 10-6 with a 2.71 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP.

After winning just three games during the two months of the season, Urias has been the winning pitcher in seven of his last eight starts, with the Dodgers winning all eight games.

The wins are coming for Urias because the Dodgers are providing plenty of run support. Over their last seven games, the LA lineup is averaging 7.4 runs per game.

It’s been the usual suspects for the Dodgers, with Freddie Freeman, Trea Turner, Will Smith, and Mookie Betts all batting .300 or better over the past week, making the middle part of the order difficult to traverse.

Crushing Giants

With the Dodgers winning six games against the Giants over the last two weeks, don’t expect that streak to end on Wednesday.

Los Angeles has been close to unstoppable over the last two months, with Urias on the mound, especially with key members of the lineup in a groove offensively.

While Cobb gives the Giants a fighting chance, picking the Dodgers to win is still a safe bet.
