Starting today, February 6, 2023, Ojos Locos Sports Cantina Y Casino and the freshly renovated Hotel Jefe will replace the former Lucky Club Hotel & Casino. After renovating about 40 percent of the hotel rooms at the property, Lucky Club Hotel & Casino is returning to operations starting today. The casino closed towards the last quarter of last year to allow renovation in preparation to launch a Latino-targeted hotel-casino.
The new platform comes several months after Fifth Street Gaming (FSG) and Ojos Locos Sports Cantina partnered and started talking in 2021. They finally decided to renovate Lucky Club Hotel & Casino and put Ojos Sports Cantina Y Casino at the center of it.
Rebranding to Cater to Latinos
Renovations officially started on September 20, 2022. This groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several leaders including City Councilmember Pamela Goynes-Brown.
Pamela noted that the rebranding of the casino was necessary. She noted that the community was diverse, hence necessary to rebrand Lucky Club as a way to celebrate people, cultures, and ethnicities.
The Fifth Street Gaming CEO Seth Schorr agreed with the councilwoman, noting that rebranding the casino would fill a void in the local casino market. The authenticity and experiences at the property were still in question. However, the ambassador of the Latin Chamber of Commerce Nevada, Albert Delgado, noted that the 15-year relationship between the community and the casino would be received well once renovations were complete.
According to Delgado, Fifth Street Gaming was looking for new ways to entertain the Latino Community instead of ways to make more money. He added that the community could see the passion of Fifth Street Gaming for the Hispanic community.
Seth collaborated with Delgado`s observation by stating that his company and Ojos Loco Sports Cantina had nurtured the idea to rebrand several years before coming to a decision. While the casino is targeting the local community, it is opportunistic too.
Delgado is not the only person in support of the new casino. The manager of Hamburger Hut Ana Tare also said that the community needed the changes at the property. Tare hoped that everyone involved would work to improve the community.
The property is located near the I-15 and an airstrip. This makes it the perfect destination for visitors passing by.
A Look at the New Casino
The renovations include cheeky changes. For instance, the hotel casino has an unfinished look.
According to Laura Caudillo, the property features corrugated aluminum to resemble clients`’ construction sites. That way, the property looks nice, but not too nice to keep clients from coming in wearing work boots.
Caudillo also said that 80 percent of the music that will be played at the facility is of Latin Origin. Notably, the atmosphere, staff, and language are mostly representing the Latin community.
The newly renovated casino will host around 300 clients on the 10,000-square-foot floor. The floor will also have 200 slots and gaming machines. There will be a poker bar with a capacity of 35 seats.
Also placed throughout the facility are 90 TVs. The Hotel will have 90 rooms once the remaining rooms are renovated before the end of this year. Ojos Locos Sports Cantina y Casino is set to offer exemplary nightlife and unmatched experience tailored to Latinos.
