A new week in the NFL regular season brings about a few intriguing matchups as well as some bye weeks from some of the league’s best.
Two teams that have favored near the top of the league for a few years will be going against each other when the Kansas City Chiefs are on the road to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
The Chiefs most recently dropped a game at home to the Buffalo Bills, who look to be cruising their way towards a top seed in the AFC, while the 49ers have experienced one of the most interesting starts to their season.
Somehow, it is another year of injuries for the 49ers, and they just can’t avoid the injury bug. Despite this, they still boast a top defense in the league, but we will find out if that is based more on their competition or their personnel.
As we look at the spread for this game, oddsmakers favor the Chiefs on the road over the 49ers at -3.
Bouncing back with a stronger offensive game plan
After a disappointing loss to the Bills last week, the Chiefs may need to adjust their game plan a little bit after getting extra pass happy.
In the early parts of the season, they had established a rushing attack with their committee of backs, but got away from it early against Buffalo and suffered the consequences.
Without any production from their running backs, the Chiefs were unable to move the ball effectively and Mahomes had difficulties finding the open man down the field.
If they can get their run game going a little bit, the Chiefs should have no problem in this game because Mahomes is just as good as he has always been.
A relatively average season in the Bay Area
So far, the 49ers have been mostly unimpressive, and this has led to their .500 record through six weeks of the regular season.
Their offense is pretty pedestrian, barring the one or two explosive plays from their wide receivers in any given week.
Without a few of those explosive plays, the 49ers do not have too much of a leg to stand on, which means their defense has been what has been carrying them.
If injuries continue to pile up on the defensive side of the ball, it could get a lot worse before it gets better.

In recent years, these two teams have found themselves towards the top of the pack more often than not, and a win here would serve as a great confidence boost for either squad.
The Chiefs’ offense will have to do all that it can to put together consistent drives against a strong 49ers’ defense, but as long as their rushing attack contributes, it should be no problem.
Despite being at home, stay away from the 49ers in this game. Take the Chiefs as the favorites at -3 in a bounce-back win over the 49ers.
