An AFC West showdown between two teams on different sides of the coin is heading our direction Sunday afternoon when the Kansas City Chiefs go on the road to take on the Denver Broncos.
In terms of disappointing teams this season, the Broncos are absolutely at the top of the list. Their offense appears to be lifeless, and they haven’t been impressive in any game this season.
The Chiefs will be coming off a loss to another strong AFC contender in Cincinnati, so their motivation will be at an all-time high as they look to secure the one seed in the conference down the stretch.
The two teams have been a part of crazy games over the years, and any time a game takes place in the mile-high city, weird things have the potential to happen.
That said, the Chiefs draw a massive road favorite over the Broncos at -8.5. With the way the Broncos have played, it likely could have been higher.
Another MVP-caliber season from Patrick Mahomes
In losing the Chiefs’ top wide receiver in the off-season, Patrick Mahomes is on pace to throw for his most yards ever in a regular season.
His level of play ascended to a new height that no one thought was even possible. When you are already at the top of the mountain, it is hard to believe there is another level to go to.
The roster around him isn’t typically what we have seen from the Chiefs in years past, as they don’t run the ball particularly great, but their defense is stout.
Going against the Broncos’ defense isn’t easy, and this could end up being a lower-scoring game for Kansas City if they are not careful.
No smiles left in Denver
Before the season began, the Broncos were a dark horse favorite to win the AFC with a strong defense and the addition of Russell Wilson.
The defense showed out and is every bit as good as everyone thought. Russell Wilson was not particularly ready for a new team and has only managed eight touchdowns on the season.
His rapid decline is head-scratching, and the team is worse off because of it.
The silly antics with Broncos’ Country and his other stunts are not so silly when you are constantly the reason your team is losing games.

The only hope the Broncos have in this game is if they can get themselves going on the defensive side of the ball. Their pass rush is scary, and pressuring Mahomes is one of the only ways you can actually slow him down.
In terms of offense, it is no contest between these two. The fact that it is a division game lends itself to believe that it will be closer than anyone thinks.
Both defenses will hang strong, but the Chiefs can easily win by 10 with some second-half magic.
Take Kansas City on the road as the favorite at -8.5.
