It’s a good thing Chicago and Golden State are squaring off since both of them have looked horrible in their first two games. Even though their opponents were excellent, it does allow one of the two to get their first win of the year. They will know what it’s like to play a competitive game again.
It’s hard to blame either team’s struggles on the long layoff, given the quick starts of the Cavaliers and Timberwolves. Those teams have both picked up wins to start 2-0, while the Bulls and Warriors have opened with a pair of losses in blowout fashion.
Most troubling for the Bulls has to be that Coby White has struggled mightily through two games. He had a long streak of 30+ point games under the Bulls’ old regime at the end of last season. And this year, he’s hardly able to score a single bucket.
The Warriors have watched Andrew Wiggins miss open shots, and Kelly Oubre has scored only on dunks and free throws. Poor Steph Curry, finally healthy, has teammates struggling around him. James Wiseman does look great, though.

The spread favors the visiting Warriors by two points. The over/under is set at 227.
Dubs Seek First Win
After starting their schedule with games against Brooklyn and Milwaukee, the Warriors should be happy to be out of the spotlight for this one. When the schedule was made, it was not done so with the expectation of a healthy Klay Thompson. He was injured before it came out. So, why even bother giving Golden State those games?
Oubre and Wiggins were expected to contribute a lot, but they have both made minuscule steps in making this team better. Draymond Green is still yet to debut, while the guys out there look like they are still trying to learn each other’s tendencies.
If the Warriors can actually make their open shots, they will probably win this game. They haven’t been able to do that through two contests.
Bulls Look for First Win Under Billy Donovan
Perhaps we all jumped the gun in thinking Chicago could become a winner under a guy like Billy Donovan. Oklahoma City never missed the playoffs on his watch, and he also won two titles as the coach of Florida. He comes here, and suddenly they get blown to bits by both the Pacers and Hawks.
With talent like Zach LaVine, Coby White, Lauri Markkanen, and Wendell Carter Jr., they should at least be able to keep things close. They are also starting Patrick Williams and opting to bring the $28 million/year Otto Porter Jr. off their bench. That move will likely pay off down the line, but not this early.
They did just get Garrett Temple back, a guy who can light it up from three. Unfortunately, he can’t be a deciding factor in wins versus losses. But it will help immensely.
Bulls Fall Short
The Warriors will get their first win of the year as they knock off Chicago on the road.
