Villanova Wildcats

The Wildcats led the NCAA in scoring this season by racking up 87 points per game on 50% percent shooting (USA Today). They are an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses from the arc and ranked fourth in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (USA Today). The over/under is an unsurprising 155 but is far from safe with these offensive dynamos playing on the same court (AL.com).

Villanova is led by Jalen Brunson, the 2018 USA Today National Player of the Year, who already has one National championship under his belt as a starting freshman. The junior point guard spearheaded a dominant run through the tournament that solidified Villanova as the NCAA Tournament favorite.

While Villanova is easily playing the best basketball of the tournament, Kansas will be the Wildcats’ stiffest challenge thus far. The Kansas Jayhawks are a perennial March Madness juggernaut and their storied history dates goes back, well, to the inventor of basketball.

Kansas Jayhawks

March Madness is not unchartered territory for a Kansas NCAA basketball program that has appeared in an NCAA record 29 straight tournaments. The Jayhawks cruised through the tournament until their matchup with Duke in an Elite 8 battle of the blue bloods.

Kansas rolled to victory in overtime, 85-81, after barely escaping a regulation loss on an in & out buzzer beater by Duke Star Grayson Allen. Minus a half-court three to tie the game at the end of regulation, the Jayhawks victory over Duke stirred memories of their heart stopping win over Memphis in the 2008 NCAA Championship that was also capped by a dominant overtime performance.

Malik Newman continued his emergence as the Jayhawks go-to scorer in the tournament by pouring in all 13 Kansas points in OT on the way to a career high of 32 points. He also led the team with 28 points in their victory over Seton Hall in the second round.

Kansas is likely the only team left with the fire-power and talent to hang in a game with a Villanova Wildcats team firing on all cylinders. This is about as an exciting Final Four matchup as you can ask for!

Wildcats Top Jayhawks

The 2018 NCAA Final Four is a tale of two matchups. One is a blue-collar battle between laser sharp defenses and players who refuse to take no for an answer down the stretch; the other is a clash of titans-two of the most talented teams in basketball squaring off in what many view as an early championship game.

It will not surprise anyone for Villanova or Kansas to walk off the court a victor Saturday night, but it would be surprising if these two teams don’t challenge the over/under of 155. We are taking the Villanova Wildcats 88-83 over Kansas Jayhawks.
