A season ago, the West Virginia Mountaineers won 12 out of their first 13 games. In fact, the Mountaineers went on to become 15-3 at one point. West Virginia has turned into one of the contenders in the Big 12 to battle with the Kansas Jayhawks at the top. The Mountaineers are ranked in the preseason Top 25 for the second straight season. The Mountaineers had that just three times before last season.

West Virginia will feature one of the top point guards in all of college basketball. Bob Huggins will put a ton of trust in Jevon Carter, who played 32 minutes per game last season. He was one of two guys that scored in double figures for the Mountaineers. Carter scored 13.5 points per game, while Esa Ahmad added 11.3 per in in his sophomore season. Both return for West Virginia, and both look like they could be NBA players.

Aggies Missing Key to Start

The first two games of the season, the Aggies will be without Robert Williams. He was suspended by the team.  He now joins Admon Gilder and D.J. Hogg in early season suspension. Those other two will play in this game.  Last season Williams played in 31 games and scored 11.9 points per game. The Aggies leading scorer Tyler Davis has returned to the team. The big man from Plano scored 14 points and ripped down 7 rebounds per game last season.

The Aggies will look to emerge as a contender in the SEC. Texas A+M sees Kentucky and Florida sit atop the conference rankings. A season ago the Aggies scored 70.8 points per game, which was 248th in all of college basketball. The Aggies are looking to move the basketball uptempo more this season.

Mountaineers Win Easily

The West Virginia Mountaineers are going to win this game easily. The Mountaineers have a full strength team, which is something that Texas A+M cannot say without Williams. The suspension to Williams is too much to overcome for Billy Kennedy’s team.  West Virginia is going to cause all sorts of havoc on the Aggies. Take the Mountaineers to win this game.
