Christmas Day NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at Boston Celtics Betting Preview

Philly has been sensational all season long and is among the elites in the eastern conference this year. With the addition of Jimmy Butler, they are confirmed as an official contender for this year, with him teaming with Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Boston picked up a much-needed win over the Hornets in their last game to snap out of a three-game streak. They look to start a new winning streak and win number 20 on Christmas Day.

Sixers:

They have the #6 scoring offense in the NBA and move the ball as well as anybody, ranking #3 in assists. Ben Simmons leads the way with 7.9, but a lot of the offense goes through Joel Embiid, who is having an MVP type of campaign. There has been nothing wrong in his game, aside from the fact that his production has dipped a little bit since the addition of Jimmy. The projected win-loss to this point in the season is 20-14, but at 22-12, have done a bit better than that, of course.

The keys for them in this game are pretty simple. Establish Joel Embiid against Robert Williams and Daniel Theis, and get all of the big men into foul trouble. Al Horford is trying to get going after missing a few weeks with an injury. They also need to try and go at Kyrie and avoid Marcus Smart on D at all costs.

Celtics:

Boston, stand up! They lost to the Wizards in a close battle a year ago, and now look to get back on track, and bit closer to having an All-Time Christmas Day winning record (13-18 to date). They have the #4 ranked defense in the league, and through all of their injuries, it has been their calling card thus far. Kyrie Irving has looked as good as any other guard in the East, while Gordon Hayward has continued to show improvement in his big comeback season. Marcus Smart as a starter has proved to be a major part of their recent hot run.

They are among the top-ten in the NBA in three-point attempts, makes, and most importantly, percentage. And though they rank near the bottom of the league in free-throw attempts, they do have the seventh-best percentage in the league. The big keys for this game for them are to establish Kyrie in the early-going, and if he can get hot, will be big for their offense. They need Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum to knock down their shots from the perimeter, and will also need a strong showing from the aforementioned Hayward to get the dub.

Sixers get win #23 in Beantown

Yep, we’re riding with Joel Embiid and the jolly 76ers this game! They will be very hard to beat, and something not mentioned above is how dangerous JJ Redick is. He is going to bury all of his long balls, and they will be getting a lot of buckets.

Embiid, Butler, Simmons, Redick. VICTORY!
