Chicago White Sox at New York Mets Betting Pick

The Chicago White Sox and New York Mets are set to square off Wednesday from Citi Field in Queens. The Mets won the first game of the series in a high-scoring 11-10 affair and are now 44-50 on the season. The Mets sit in fourth place ahead of only the Washington Nationals. For the White Sox, they are now 40-56 on the season, which is also fourth in their division. The White Sox are only ahead of Kansas City.

The New York Mets are big favorites in this game. The latest odds have the Mets at -200 and the White Sox at +145. The total for this game is set at 8.5 runs.

White Sox Looking for Deadline Sell

The White Sox have seen struggles all season long, and they continued again on Tuesday as Lucas Giolito allowed 5 early runs. Giolito did not help the pitching numbers, which are in the bottom half of Major League Baseball in nearly every category. The White Sox are allowing 8.3 hits per game. The Mets pounded out 11 runs in the game on Tuesday.

The White Sox offense got a home run from Yasmani Grandal in the loss on Tuesday. Grandal picked up his first hit since July 1st in the game. Chicago’s Luis Robert Jr is hitting .275 on the season and has 27 home runs. Robert Jr needs just 3 more hits this season to reach 100 on the year.

Touki Toussaint will throw for the Chicago White Sox in this one. The 27-year-old has made just 3 starts this season. Overall, he is 0-2 but has a low 3.38 earned run average; Toussaint has thrown just 24 innings this season for the White Sox.

Mets Go With Veteran

For the New York Mets, veteran Justin Verlander will pitch. Verlander is 3-5 on the season, with a 3.72 earned run average. The 40-year-old will make his 14th start of the season. His last outing was on July 14th, where he took a loss at home to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Mets and their five runs in the first inning on Tuesday saw Tommy Pham pick up his 15th double of the season, while Brett Baty and Francisco Alvarez both hit first-inning home runs. Alvarez hit two in the game for New York. The Mets now have hit 117 home runs on the season, which ranks inside the Top 10 of Major League Baseball.

The Mets will finish this series before going on the road for a pair of road series. The Mets are at the Red Sox over the weekend and will visit Yankee Stadium next week before coming back home to take on the Nationals.

Verlander Deals in Win

Justin Verlander has faced the Chicago White Sox many times over his career. He has done well against them, and this game doesn’t seem to be anything different. Take Verlander and the Mets to win this win easily.  New York needs to make a run, and it needs to start soon. Bet the New York Mets -200 over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. With 20 runs scored in the game on Tuesday, expect this to be a lower scoring game. Also, take the under on Wednesday.
