We have one of the more lopsided games of the day as the Dallas Stars will host the Chicago Blackhawks. Dallas comes into this one with the most points in the Central Division with 72 and sits in second place in the Western Conference overall.
Despite Dallas being one of the top teams in hockey this season, they’ve won just three of their last 10 games and are currently on a four-game losing streak. This could be a good thing for bettors or a trend to continue playing.
Chicago, on the other hand, has been horrible all season long but has played better throughout their last 10 games, winning five of them. They’ve also won their last three games against some high-level opponents.
Will Dallas Bounce Back?
When looking at what the Dallas Stars have done this season, it’s easy to see why people do believe that this team does have a chance of winning the Stanley Cup. However, Dallas has too many games throughout the year where they simply can’t get enough done, and that’s a major call for concern.
Typically, their inability to keep a lead has been a major issue, and that’s something to certainly watch out for here once again. They lost in overtime against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday and ended up blowing a third-quarter lead on the home ice.
Although Boston is undoubtedly the top team in the NHL this season, this isn’t something new for Dallas as they’ve done this against teams that simply aren’t better than them.
There are other ways that the Stars win games, and that’s typically what they’re able to do on both sides of the puck. Goalkeeper Jake Oettinger has been sensational for them, but they have to start finding a way to close some of these games otherwise they’re not going to be able to be the team that they’re looking to be.
Can the Blackhawks Continue Winning Streak?
One thing to watch out for with the Chicago Blackhawks is the fact that this team has been scoring at a much higher level throughout the past few games. They’ve managed to score at least four goals in two of their last three and even beat the Toronto Maple Leaves, 5-3.
They did so by Patrick Kane playing like one of the best players in the world as he had four points in that one. Those four points included him having a hat trick.
It’s going to be tough for the Blackhawks to win another game on the road, but the team has proven throughout their past few games that they have more than it takes to get the job done when they’re at their best. They’re coming off wins against the Maple Leafs and the Golden Knights, so beating the Stars isn’t the craziest thing in the world.
