The Buffalo Sabres will take on the Anaheim Ducks for one of the more interesting NHL games of Wednesday night.
Considering that neither team has played well this season, it’s tough to say who has the edge in this game. However, the sportsbooks think the Sabres are going to win this one as they’re -205 on the moneyline.
Buffalo comes into this one playing much better than Anaheim, despite their struggles as well. They’re tied with the third-fewest points in the Atlantic Division and need to turn this around if they want any chance of making a late-season push. Anaheim has the least amount of points in the Pacific Division and the second-fewest in the Western Conference with 40.

Can Buffalo Bounce Back?
The Sabres have lost four games in a row and there seems to be a major issue throughout the past few games. They’ve still won five out of their last 10, but they need to figure this thing out as they’ve struggled after the all-star break. While they’ve lost four straight, those losses were to the Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames, and Los Angeles Kings.
Those are four above-average teams, so it’s not surprising to see them struggle. If the Sabres are going to find a way to win this game, they need to keep the puck out of the net. Their last three games have seen them give up at least five goals, including one where they gave up seven.
While that hasn’t been impressive, the Anaheim Ducks shouldn’t do that to them on Wednesday night.
Are the Ducks Tanking?
At this point, it might be safe to say that the Anaheim Ducks are tanking and are trying to put themselves in a good position for the NHL Draft. There are still areas that they need to work on, but they might not be too worried about that now. Their most recent losses have been disappointing, with losses to the Las Vegas Golden Knights and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Similar to Buffalo, they’ve been giving up a ton of goals in these games. In their last two, they’ve given up six and seven, which is never going to win a team games in this league.
If the Ducks want any chance to win this one, they need to come out and protect the net. Their defense and goalkeepers simply need to be better to get back on track.

Because of how bad both of these teams have been this season, it’s not a bad idea to play the underdog on their home ice here. The Ducks have +175 odds, and that could be a nice payout for everyone. Furthermore, the Ducks have a chance to win this game because the Sabres are on a West Coast trip.
These games always get interesting, and that’s something for us to remember. The over at 6.5 also seems like a good bet given the fact that both teams have given up six or more goals multiple times in their past few games.
