BetMGM Poker Unveils Its First Poker Tournament in 2022

All the leading poker rooms are unveiling their first poker tournaments in 2022, one after another. BetMGM Poker is on the stop as it revealed its 2022 first poker tourney, scheduled to start on Friday, January 21. The event will go for ten days, ending on January 30, 2022.

BetMGM Poker operates in Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. It plans to run the upcoming series in all three states. It comprises 20 events and two versions of each match, making 40 different matches in each state.

The schedule is similar in all three states, although there is a slight difference in guarantees. The first game in each pair will be a standard format, while the second is a progressive knockout.

New Jersey will have the highest guaranteed prize of $364,000 spread across the 40 matchesMichigan’s guaranteed prize is a little lower, $334,000, while Pennsylvanian winners will get a share of the $324,000

The difference in guarantees could result from the fact that BetMGM Poker in Michigan and Pennsylvania has operated for less than a year.

The poker festivals have addressed the interests of both low roller and high rollers. But, most of these games have an affordable buy-in. Ideally, 24 games of the 40 have a $50 or less buy-in. The remaining have higher buy-ins, up to $535.

Both No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha have several games to enjoy. All these matches have unlimited rebuy periods. Omaha players will have four chances to play the game at events #10 and #17.

More About the Schedules

One of the biggest highlights of the poker festival is the $109 No-Limit Hold’em tournaments with $10,000 guarantees in each state. The other is event #5, which is two $215 games with a guarantee of $25,000 in Michigan and Pennsylvania and $30,000 in New Jersey.

Event #9 has the most significant buy-in of $535 for the No-Limit Hold’em in each format. It comes with a $15,000 guarantee for each state.

There is no Main Event on the schedule. However, the second last fixture on January 30 is expected to turn heads. It is a $215 tournament with a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool in Michigan and Pennsylvania and $30k in New Jersey.

BetMGM Is All About Business

BetMGM Poker has gained a reputation for its many series of poker events with attractive guarantees. This year’s first event, Double Trouble, marks the fourth online event BetMGM has been hosting in the past two months.

One of the latest events is the End Boss series which occurred in November. Its Main Event generated a prize pool of over $42k in New Jersey.

The poker room hosted the Cheap Stakes series during Christmas, targeting players on a tight budget. The partypoker US New Year Knockout Mini-Series quickly followed, marking the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022.

BetMGM is trying to get a share of the poker market that PokerStars already dominates. Despite the struggle, BetMGM continues to offer high-value poker games.

With this new festival, it is clear that BetMGM is still ambitious to offer quality to players. The room is probably using this as a marketing strategy to attract new players. If it continues with the trend throughout this year, it might create a dent in PokerStars’ solid market.
