Bin Weng is one of the most successful poker players this year. The poker pro has reached 16 final tables and bagged six titles, some of which are from competitive main events. Nevertheless, the player’s largest payout was the $958,279 he won at Wynn Las Vegas’ $25,000 High Roller in the 2023 World Poker Tour(WPT) World Championship after leading a 194-entry field.
Weng battled it out with Thomas Boivin for a while before they made a chop deal determining who would receive the title and trophy. The former has led the Card Player Player of the Year(POY) competition for a while. Moreover, his recent win gave him an advantage over the second player in the race.
His win earned him 1,176 POY points hence increasing his total points to 12,256. Still, Isaac Haxton is the second player with 9,791 points. Therefore, Weng got a 2,465 point lead within several days.
Leading poker websites indicate that Weng has almost $8.6 million in career event winnings, most of which he had this year including his five biggest payouts. The player has won over $6.6 million in his cashes in 2023.
His stunning winning streak started early January. He won $1,000,000 and amassed 1,920 POY points after topping a 1,142 entry field in The Return Championship $5,300 Buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament. It was the first seven-figure payout this year.
Weng won another title in February when he beat 832 opponents in the World Series of Poker(WSOP) Circuit Horseshoe Las Vegas $1,700 Main Event to receive 912 points and $227,344. He reached two WPT final tables being the largest stack in the spring.
Weng Excels at WPT EveryOne for One Drop
Weng stunned his rail in the WPT EveryOne for One Drop $10,500 Buy-In tournament at Wynn Las Vegas when he beat 1,675 opponents to collect 2,700 POY points and receive a $2,227,054 prize. It was the largest cashout in his professional career.
He won his fifth title in 2023 in the Wynn Fall Classic’s $1,600 Mystery Bounty tournament receiving 912 POY points and $159,078. The High Roller tournament featured 194 players but only the leading 23 participants got a share of the prize pool. They included Dylan Linde, Darren Elias, Brian Kim, Erik Seidel, Joseph Cheong, and Danny Tang.
