Day 2 Highlights

Schonback kicked off the final day’s action being in the middle position at the chip standings. Yet, he busted several players and improved his position to second place.

The poker pro eventually got the stack lead when three players remained at the final table. Even so, the three-handed action extended after the dinner break as each of the finalists eyed the first-place prize.

Schonback briefly lost the lead before busting Laid Hyso in the third position. The latter got a 17,500,000: 15,290,000 chip lead over Eddie Blumenthal.

Both players put up a spirited fight for an hour as Schonback strived to increase the stack lead up to the event’s last hand. He used 9Heart Suit9Club Suit to raise and Blumenthal used AHeart Suit8Club Suit to reraise in the hole.

The board ran out JHeart SuitJClub Suit6Club Suit2Club Suit7Club Suit and each player got a flush. Yet, Schonback had a better card hence busting Blumenthal as a runner-up with $174,638. The latter also sought his second gold ring but the odds were against him.

Bell Garden’s Bicycle Casino is hosting another ongoing WSOP Circuit tournament that will end on March 15. Still, a $1,700 buy-in main vent started on Wednesday 8. Ardent fans can access the Circuit’s schedule at different poker sites.
