The World Series of Poker has worked with 888poker for quite some time to provide players around the world with options for earning a seat to one of the many WSOP tournament events. The WSOP recently announced the schedule for the 2017 series and that they have extended their current contract with 888poker to see the online poker brand be the exclusive provider of online qualifier satellites and promotions for the company.
The WSOP Executive Director, Ty Stewart, stated that the WSOP is delighted to have been able to renew their agreement with 888poker for the third year in a row. A two-year extension was added to the current contract, with Stewart stating that the shared vision and love of poker means a natural partnership between the two brands.
888poker will now remain the only way that poker players who are located outside the United States have the ability to qualify online, through next year. 888 and the WSOP began working together in 2015, with the brand sending 128 players to the World Series of Poker that year. In 2016, 888poker sent even more players to the WSOP, over 250 to be exact. The players who earned seats in the qualifying process via 888 for 2016 included Griffin Benger and Fernando Pons, two players who made it to the November Nine round of the Main Event.
The deal also includes 888poker being the exclusive telecast partner for the WSOP. Kara Scott, an ambassador for 888poker, will also be serving as anchor during the ESPN coverage alongside Norman Chad and Lon McEachern.
For players located in the United States, the WSOP site is currently offering online poker qualifiers for the 2017 WSOP events. Players can now compete to earn a seat to a major WSOP event including Colossus III. Qualifiers are currently running in Nevada, open to any individual located within the borders of the state via WSOP.com.
