WSOP Europe 6-Handed Deepstack Won by Asi Moshe

Israel looks set to dominate this year’s World Series of Poker Europe as another citizen managed to win an event in this tournament – Asi Moshe. He basically managed to repeat the success of his countryman Tamir Segal. Segal won Event #1, but Moshe succeeded in winning Event #2: €1,650 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Deepstack. He managed to secure a bracelet and receive a winning prize of €82,280. It is the second bracelet for Moshe, who won his first WSOP bracelet several years ago.

There is no doubt that making a two-day streak in a tournament as big as WSOPE is a great achievement for the small country of Israel.  Players from this country have been dominant in the past few years which tells us that Israel is doing something to promote poker. All in all, a total of twelve bracelets belong to the Middle Eastern country after this win by Asi Moshe. Moshe is the second player in Israel’s history to win two bracelets, the first one being Rafi Amit.

Moshe had a laugh and stated that he did not know the secret of Israel when it comes to playing poker. He added that it is a “sick” achievement to have a two for two.

The second event in the World Series of Poker Europe saw a total of 221 players apply. Asi Moshe managed to come out on top, although his final prize was a lot smaller than the pot won by Segal one day earlier.

When Moshe managed to win his first bracelet four years ago, everybody thought that it was a one-time thing.  Since then, however, he has managed to win more than $2 million in live tournaments, which is a great sum to be won in just four years. The second bracelet was not as unexpected as his first one since he already had two near-misses in the prior few years. He was actively hunting for his second bracelet and finally found success with this tournament. He said that there were no words to describe his happiness as he was introduced to the two-time bracelet winners. He added that it was a validation of his effort and for his skills.

Overall, he gave us a great event with a lot of action and the exciting 90-minute-long head-up play against Robert Schulz, who won €50,842. One thing is certain – we are going to see more of Moshe in the future, and he looks like an ideal candidate for entering the Poker Hall of Fame in the future.
