Teams Pulling Ahead in Americas Cup of Poker

PokerStars new series the Americas Cup of Poker is in full swing and several teams have pulled ahead in the standings. Over 35,000 players have entered the Americas Cup of Poker to play on a team from regions in North and South America. At the end of the competition the top two teams in each group competing will be moving on to the live final in Argentina.

Round one of play has ended and several regions have been blow out of the water in the competition. Group A saw the United States and Mexico defeat Ecuador and Guatemala 8-0. In Group B Uruguay and Panama lost to Canada and Colombia while Group D’s Argentina and Brazil blasted Paraguay and Honduras.

It was only in Group C where the competition was tight. All four countries are still in the running to make the live final. So far Costa Rica has a record of 6-2, Chile has 4-4, Venezuela has 4-4 and Peru has 2-6. It will be interesting to see which teams will be able to pull out to make the final.

Finishing in third place would be rough as the players were so close to making the live final. But PokerStars recently announced a special playoff for the teams that finish in third place. All teams that finish in third place will be able to compete in the $10,000 ninth place playoff. So even if your team finishes in third place there is still something to look forward to if you finish in third place.
