Earlier this week France poker player ElkY (AKA Bertrand Grospellier) swooped up the 2008 Caribbean PokerStars tournament title along with a nice cash win of $2,000,000.00. After outlasting a field of poker players 1,136 players ElkY found himself heads up in the tournament against another very well known poker player Hafiz Kahn, a 33 year old poker player from Northern California. During a tournament changing hand, Elky trapped Kahn into a pot holding a set and swooped up just about a million five in tournament chips.
In another hand, ElkY (PokerStars first ever SuperNova Poker Player, as well as the first ever SuperNova Elite poker player) came out with a raise, Kahn pushed back, shoving all of his chips into the middle. ElkY made the call with a made hand before the flop. The eights held up and ElkY won the tournament.
“The entire trip has been one thrilling experience after another – and now I’m returning home as the 2008 PCA Champion. This was definitely one of the hardest tournaments I’ve ever played. It was a very tough field with a lot of online American qualifiers who played really well. But I really wanted this title and I would have been very disappointed not to win. ” Said ElkY in regards to his latest win.
Television coverage of the 2008 PCA final table will be available in the US during the Spring of 2008.
The next European Poker Tour even is set to be played in Dortmund, Germany. The event will begin on January 29th and will play through February 2, 2008.
