Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia hosted Event No.2:$1,100 No-Limit Hold’em tournament in the PokerStars Summer Series. Soukha Kachittavong, a Rhode Island player, visited Philadelphia again after finishing in seventh place in the series’ first tournament.
Yet, he remained focused on winning a trophy, and his dream came true when he beat Cheng Xu in their heads-up battle to win the PokerStars Summer Series title and the second event’s title. The two players had a small chip margin and a few blinds before the event ended. However, Kachittavong’s small chip advantage helped him eliminate Xu.
The duo took home $105,407 each after agreeing to share the remaining prize pool. The champion was the shortest stack earlier in the day, and the final table had limited key hands. So, they offered Kacchitavong an opportunity to study his opponent’s playing strategies before eliminating them.
He stated after the tournament that it was the longest playing session he has ever had in a day in his career, as it lasted for 18 hours. But it excited him, and he will resume playing next week in the $2,200 Buy-In event, hoping to win back-to-back tournaments.

How the Final Table Played Out
Jeffrey Yanchek exited the tournament in ninth place with $12,490 when the smaller pair got a set, hence making his pocket tens to lose to pocket nines. Bill Chonka followed him in eighth place after their six-five lost to their rival’s pocket nines.
Soheb Poybandarwala and Scott Kret got busted in the seventh and sixth place, respectively, after their hands lost to two pair. Ron Adams was among the chip leaders most of the day. But he missed several flips that reduced his stack and sent him packing in fifth place.
Johanssy Joseph exited the tournament in the fourth position despite being the second-largest stack when he reached Day 2. Nhan Cao aimed at the ICM chop three-handed but couldn’t keep up with their opponent’s pace, hence finishing third.
His exit set up a fierce battle of the blinds between Xu and Kachittavong. Xu had a crucial stack lead over his rival, but a huge hand turned tables after Kachhittavong got a set of sixes and used it to put his stack in the middle on the flop.
Xu didn’t give up the hand and made a deal with Kachittavong. But, the former opted to play the ICM chop for the title and earned an additional $10,000. The duo were excited when the tournament ended as Kachittavong received the trophy and started preparing for reaching Event No.3’s final table.
