Soheb Pobandarwala Wins $239k at WPT Opnline Poker Open

Several days ago, the World Poker Tour Online Poker Open series wrapped up its $3,500 Main Event, which was available to New Jersey Players and powered by partypoker US Network.

The tournament saw a total of 395 entrants apply, creating a prize pool of $1,264,000. The top 64 players were paid. Some of them who made it to the money list but failed to reach the final table were Vinny Pahuja, Anthony Chin, Jake Toole, Anthony Maio, Alex Butcher, and Galen Hall.

However, the player who managed to win the event was Soheb Porbandarwala. He managed to beat Balakrishna Patur in the heads-up play and ended up with a total of $239,820 as the first-place prize. On top of that, Soheb managed to win a $15,000 seat for the WPT Tournament of Champions, which is supposed to take place at the end of the season. Finally, he received a WPT Champions Trophy, a Baccarat Crystal Beluga Highball Glasses, and a Hublot Big Bang E Titanium Watch worth $5,200.

The Final Table Overview

The first player to hit the rail in the ninth place was Andrew Benedict, who managed to earn a total of $22,170. He was followed by Daniel Buzgon in eighth place for $28,727 and Tim Kuder in seventh for $41,217.

Alex Farin made it to the sixth position for $56,830 and the next player to leave the virtual table. After he cashed out was Obli Prabu, who earned a total of $75,565 for his efforts on the event.

A player nicknamed “anomalous” made it to fourth place, earning $95,948 for his effort, and Matt Iles managed to earn $127,398 as the third-placed player. He was the last one to hit the rail before Patur and Pobandarwala could engage in the heads-up play, where Patur had to settle for the consolation prize of $164,868.

Brian Sherrier Wins GTD 8-Max NLH

Apart from the Main Event, there were plenty of other events that were part of WPT, and Brian Sherrier managed to top one of them — the WPT Online Poker Open $30K GTD 8-Max NLH.

The tournament saw only 16 players at the start, but that number increased to a total of 82 entries, with the buy-in of $535. The players quickly managed to get to the final table, and Sherrier won the highest prize — $12.812. He engaged in the heads-up play against Jaime Reyes, who earned $7,175. The prize pool for this side event was $41,000.

The third place finish belonged to Mike Menzer for $5,227, and Alex Butcher ended up fourth for $3,895. Before him, Ryan Dodd exited the game as fifth-placed and won $3,013, and a player nicknamed “KevinDurant” ended in sixth place for $2,275.

Michael Gagliano occupied the seventh place for $1,706, and Kevin Campbell ended up eighth for $1,332. Some of the players who failed to make it to the final table but grabbed a slice of the pie were Christopher Hill, Ryan Hohner, and Frank Funaro.
