It was an awesome weekend for members of PokerStars as the world’s largest online poker room drew its highest traffic numbers ever. Millions of dollars were awarded at PokerStars, including a special Sunday Million worth $2.5m guaranteed, upped to $3.2m due to excessive player participation.
Another major event came in the form of the PokerStars ‘Guinness World Record Tournament’ that sought to break the record for the highest participation level at any poker tournament. The seats were capped at 35,000, and that’s exactly how many players took to the tables for the grand event.

The Team PokerStars Pro Championship Match also drew a great deal of attention. The 8 game mixed event saw Team PokerStars Pros battling it out for the honor of being named Captain of the PokerStars Pro Team. It came down to a heads-up finish between Victor Ramdin and Daniel Negreanu, but Ramdin would take the honors.
Other exceptional events at PokerStars this weekend included a series of eleven 10,000-seater Sit’n’Go tournaments with a $1 buy-in and $10k added to the overall prize. PokerStars finished out the year with its final weekend of 2008 drawing nearly 37,000 players at cash tables alone.
