PokerStars US Announces Big Prizes

A new year means new opportunities for those people that play online poker in North America, thanks to PokerStars. PokerStars US just announced its Winter Series for 2024, and there will be $5 million worth of prize money available to players.

This is always a highlight of every winter for online poker players, and there will once again be a headlining competition to get things off on the right foot. The Main Event Championships will be a $300 buy-in, and it’s an event that will be spread across three festivals.

The Winter Series will be held from January 12th through January 29th, with the Main Event being a two-day tournament to finish things up. No single player is going to walk away with the $5 million prize as the purse is going to be spread out among different locations.

For those that would like to compete for a different type of prize, there are going to be 10 Championship Events where a watch will be awarded to the winner.

Promotions Are Coming

PokerStars acknowledges that not every currently has funds in their accounts to enter into these tournaments, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Anyone that makes a deposit of at least $50 will be given a ticket or a freeroll to earn a chance into the Main Event.

There are going to be other games held at the PokerStars Casino that will hand out prizes that include entries into the Winter Series. This event is beneficial to the players, but PokerStars also benefits in a big way by attracting new business to their site.

These tournaments are going to be split up into three main groups, and they come in those areas in which PokerStars sees most of their action. Tournaments will be held in Pennsylvania, Ontario, and there are also shared liquidity tournaments between Michigan and New Jersey.

The location will depend on the types of tournaments that are available, and more money is guaranteed across players in Michigan/New Jersey.

A Look at Each Location

The Pennsylvania festival will have 85 events, and there will be $1.5 million in guaranteed prize money available. All of the biggest events will take place near the end of the month, including a $2,000 high rollover event that comes with a guaranteed prize of $100,000.

There will also be 85 events across Michigan and New Jersey, but there will be $2.25 million in guaranteed prize money available. Many of the same events are going to be held here as in Pennsylvania, but the $50 Mini Main Event will have a guaranteed prize of $50,000.

A majority of the action is going to be taking place in the United States, but players from Ontario are going to have more chances to win money. There will be 120 events for players in Ontario, and $1.7 million in guaranteed prize money.
