PokerStars NJ Meet and Greet Results in Tournament Details and Player Survey

PokerStars LogoPokerStars has been very busy as of late, working on reentering the US online gambling market via the state of New Jersey. The online poker giant recently hosted two Meet and Greet’s with players in the state, first at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City and then at the Resort’s Landshark Bar. According to Pokerfuse, a player reported what happened during the meeting, stating that PokerStars released tentative tournament scheduling details as well as surveyed players wanting to know what they would like to see when it comes to tournament gaming.

The player reported that the proposed tournament schedule included several events such as a $50 Sunday Warm-up which would offer a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool. Also on the schedule was a $200 Sunday Main Event which would offer a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. With the launch of a $50k event, PokerStars would be offering the largest weekly tournament available in New Jersey.

When compared to other New Jersey offerings, PokerStars would be providing the best options for Sunday gaming, which is considered the big day of play in the industry. WSOP New Jersey has a similar Sunday schedule but offers the $10,000 guaranteed tournament with a larger buy-in at $109. This would make the PokerStars event more appealing but most of these types of events experience an overlay so it would be interesting to see if PokerStars would be able to pull in enough players to reach the guarantee, which other NJ online poker rooms have been unable to do.

The player attending the meeting also stated, in a TwoPlusTwo post, that PokerStars asked questions about tournament preferences, most likely to get a feel as to what players would like to see take place. Dan Burns stated that PokerStars wanted to determine what players prefer asking about Turbos, Deep Stacks, bounties, Fifty50s and more. Players were asked if they like nine handed or six handed cash games as well as what the minimum and maximum buy-ins should be for cash games.

The VIP program was also discussed but would most likely be the same as in the past. However it was pointed out that New Jersey charges a 15% tax that is not paid in other areas that PokerStars services so the benefits of the rewards program may not be as high as in other countries.
