Thuy Doan is a respected poker pro who is battling cancer. Doan has a popular blog at PokerRoad and recently she announced she was going bald. To show their support for her, many poker pros decided to shave their own hair off.
Doan is from Vietnam and she came to the US as a child after the Vietnam War. After coming to the US Doan worked hard to make a life for herself and she recently graduated college. During that time Doan was playing poker professionally.
In her blog Doan stated she was ‘gonna go bald’. Her blog read: “The biopsy results came back … I have an aggressive soft tissue sarcoma in my upper calf. The next step is to get a chest scan to see if the cancer has spread. After that is chemo to shrink the tumor, then surgery. If chemo doesn’t work then amputation is a disturbing possibility. Since my health insurance policy is based in Virginia, I will be going back there soon for treatment.â€Â
Since making this announcement, Doan has received a great deal of support from people in the poker industry. Many poker pros have decided to shave their heads in support of Doan. As of right now nineteen poker pros have shaved their head in support of Doan.

The support of her colleagues as well as fans in the poker community is great for Doan. In her blog she commented that she won’t let the cancer destroy her and she will beat it.
