Poker Players Win $34 Million in Prizes in the DeepStack Championship Poker Series

Venetian Las Vegas hosted the DeepStack Championship Poker Series between May 2 and July 31, 2022. It had guaranteed prize pools of more than $22 million in over 133 events. Yet, this figure was exceeded as 35,603 players competed and created a $34,071,558 prize pool.

Some of the notable players who won various titles included Kevin Garosshen (won $17,192 in Event No. 59:$600 NLH), Kristy Means(won $45,000 in Event No. 74:$600 MLH), Svetlana Gromenkova (won $19,127 in Event No. 99:$500 NLH LIPS Ladies), Joon Kim (won $82,790 in Event No. 122:$600 NLH Epic Stack) and Peter Hengsakul ( won $9,000 in Event No. 132:$400 NLH Monster Stack).

Action at the Final Table

Event No. 116:$800 No-Limit Ultimate Stack had 1,033 entrants who created a $712,770 prize pool. But, only 109 finishers shared the pool. They included Yotam Shmuelov who finished 10th and won $11,618, Z Stein won $7,698 after finishing 14th, Duff Charette won $4,704 after finishing 22nd and Tuan Mai $3,992 after finishing 27th.

Thor Morstoel beat Al-Farouk in a heads-up battle. He won the $121, 166 first place prize and the title.

This was more than twice his previous $46,989 best score that he made after finishing second in the 2018 European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague Event No. 35: €1,100 NLH Freezeout. The Hendon Mob recorded his score.

Qing Liu Wins a Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza Event

Event No. 130:$600 NLH Ultimate Stack took place on July 31, being among the last tournaments in the series. Each of its top 63 finalists won some money.

Edward Kang won $5,135 after finishing 10th, Matthew Schultz $3,374 after finishing 14th, Luke Vrabel $1,907 after finishing 26th, Desmond Haynes received $1,614 after finishing 35th, Mackenzie Kraemer won $1,467 after finishing 42nd and Tuan Mai took home $1,320 after finishing 53rd.

Josh Prager got busted in third place and won $27,873. His departure prompted Kevin Stevens and Qing Liu to strike a deal. It earned the former $45,636 for being the runner-up as Liu took home $51,624 and the trophy.

Liu’s victory increased his lifetime poker tournament earnings to $2,383,732. The Venetian earned him most of the tournament earnings.

The poker pro won $752,880 after winning the World Poker Tour (WPT) Venetian, two weeks after winning $110, 890 in the Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza Event No. 33:$600 NLH Ultimate Stack. He has won several Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza trophies as he almost won a gold bracelet when he won $207,192 after losing Event No. 11:$600 NLH DeepStack to Rajesh Vohra.
