Poker Players Alliance – It’s Time

Poker Players Alliance It’s time to let your voice be heard in Washington. It is time to show that sitting by passively and “hoping” someone else will do it is not the answer. It’s time and fortunately the Poker Players Alliance is providing the venue.

Boasting 800,000 members strong, the PPA is inviting everyone to attend a Policy Conference and two days of citizen lobbying in Washington DC on October 22-24th. It is during these two days that you will have the chance to meet Members of Congress whose vote will help decide the important issue of online gambling.

You will also get a chance to mingle and share one voice with some of the best poker players across the U.S.: Andy Bloch, Chad Brown, Barry Greenstein, Howard Lederer, Chris Moneymaker, Vanessa Rousso and Victor Ramdin.

The Poker Players Alliance will schedule a meeting with your representative in Congress and help you get the point across that poker is a game of skill and that online gambling does not need to be banned but reasonably regulated.

From the PPA site, here is a list of events:

  • Welcome Reception – 6:30pm, Omni Shoreham Hotel, Oct. 22
  • “How to Lobby Congress” Breakfast – 8:30am, Omni Shoreham Hotel, Oct. 23
  • Member of Congress/Staff Meetings – TBD, Oct. 23 and 24, U.S. Capitol Complex
  • Capitol Hill Reception – Evening, Oct. 23
  • Policy Forum – morning, Oct. 24, U.S. Capitol Complex
Invited speakers include: Charlie Nesson, Professor, Harvard Law; Sallie James, Policy Analyst, Cato Institute; Keith Whyte, Executive Director, Nat’l Council on Problem Gambling; and other experts in the field of public policy and law.

One voice in Washington may not get noticed, but 800,000 voices, carrying one message, will be too loud to go unnoticed. Plan to attend, bring a friend, its time.
