Casey Jones was a well known poker dealer and WSOP tournament director who managed the daily deep stack tournaments at this year’s World Series of Poker. The poker community was saddened to hear of Jones passing and now many are trying hard to raise money for Jones’ three year old twin girls, Sadie and Kennedy.
The news of Jones passing flooding online poker forums, as everyone mourned his passing. On August 2nd, Jones fell into a sudden coma while he was traveling through New Mexico. He was placed in ICU in Las Cruces where he remained, with everyone hoping his condition would improve. His family and friends came to his side and doctors stated that there was no hope that he would recover. The family then began to make arrangements so that Casey would be comfortable until his passing.
When this first began, poker family friend, Joanne Douglass created a donation site at Giveforward.com in Casey’s honor. The web page gave information on Jones condition and stated that the fund was set up to make sure that Casey would get the care he deserved in his finals days. The remainder of the donations would then be given to help his daughters grow up and thrive. On August 18th a single post was placed on the updates section of Casey’s page which read: “Casey Jones has just passed. It is so sad that someone so young and vibrant had to be taken this early. My heart goes out to all the family. I will keep you posted on arrangements.”
Like many twenty nine year olds, Casey had no medical insurance and had no time to provide a secure future for his daughters. However, the poker community can help. We can let everyone know about Casey’s life and how he impacted the game of poker and the people he met. The goal of the donation page is $30,000. $20,457 has already been raised.
