Poker After Dark Championship Week

Poker After DarkThis week’s Poker After Dark should be a sharp contrast to the previous two as 6 WSOP champions will sit down and battle it out in this week’s $120,000 winner take all episode. On top of that the self proclaimed “best poker player in the world”, Phil Hellmuth, is going for an unprecedented 3rd straight PAD title.

Joining Phil Hellmuth and trying to prevent the 3-peat will be Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, Johnny Chan, Berry Johnston, Jamie Gold and Huck Seed. Collectively, these six poker professional will bring 36 WSOP bracelets, have combined earnings of $41 million and will bring intensity and a high standard of play to this week’s mini-tournament.

All eyes will be on Phil though as he is seeking to become not only the first three time winner but trying to do it back to back to back. In the first week he bested the field of Ken Lights Dream table and then came back to beat 5 of the best talkers in the game during Hecklers Week. This might be his biggest challenge though as he tries for the trifecta during Champions Week.

The $120,000 winner take all table will consist of:

Chris “Jesus” Ferguson – One of the most recognizable figures in poker with his black wide brimmed hat and long hair and beard. He is the 2000 WSOP main event champion and holds 5 WSOP bracelets in total. Most recently Chris won the WSOP Circuit main event in Lake Tahoe last November. He will be in seat 1.

Johnny Chan – Johnny Chan has won back to back WSOP main event championships in 1987 and ’88. He has participated in two previous Poker After Dark Champions week and the Season 1 win was his last tournament won. The 2002 Poker Hall of Fame inductee will be in seat 2.

Berry Johnston – Though to must he would be unknown, Berry was the WSOP Champion in 1986 and holds 5 WSOP bracelets. He is a 2004 Poker Hall of Fame inductee and has cashed 26 years in a row at the WSOP. He will be in seat 3.

Jamie Gold – This former Holly wood agent was the 2006 WSOP champion. He followed that up with a 35th place finish in the 2007 WSOP and will be his third Poker After Dark appearance. He will be in seat 4.

Phil Helmuth – The “Poker Brat” and self proclaimed “best poker player in the world” was the 1989 WSOP champion and holds 11 WSOP bracelet making him the only player in poker history to have that many. Phil Hellmuth is4th on the all time money list and has 63 total WSOP cashes. He will be going for his 3rd consecutive PAD title and is in seat 5.

Huck Seed – This 6’7” poker player was the WSOP champion in 1996 and holds 4 WSOP bracelets in all. He finished 73rd in the 2007 WSOP and can be found regularly playing at Full Tilt Poker. He is in seat 6.
