Phil Hellmuth Takes NBC Heads Up Loss Hard

Phil Hellmuth is one of the most well-known poker players in the industry today. Hellmuth holds the record for most World Series of Poker bracelets won at a staggering 13 and is known as a top competitor. However, the pro is also known for his whiny attitude and big ego, hence his nickname the Poker Brat. The pro has been known to pitch fits at the felt and is not afraid to speak about how ‘great’ he is. Hellmuth recently competed in the NBC Heads-Up Championship event and apparently wanted to win the event so badly, he is now losing sleep over his defeat in the event.

According to a recent report by PokerListings, despite the fact that the pro has had a great year, he took to his Twitter account to speak about how he was having trouble sleeping due to losing his last match in the NBC event. Hellmuth stated: “Having trouble sleeping. I should be content w a good 2 yrs in poker, BUT losing my last match, w a shot at the title, dominates my mind.” This was tweeted around 9:30am on January 29th.

Hellmuth made it to the final heads up match in the event to face Mike Matusow for the title win. Matusow saw Hellmuth’s tweet and took to his own account to state: “I cant stop laughing when I see a cardplayer quote that says Hellmuth having trouble sleeping after loss to me! #lolololweeeee”

Hellmuth has had a very successful past few months, earning top finishes and titles, so he really has nothing to complain about. He earned $300,000 for placing runner-up to Matusow in the Heads-Up event as well as earning two additional WSOP bracelets, to extend his total to 13. The pro also earned several more accolades and continues to be a top competitor. So it seems as though Hellmuth needs to chill and enjoy his achievements and chalk this one up as a good loss!
