Party Poker New Jersey “Restore the Shore” Charity Poker Series

New Jersey Shore - Hurricane SandyJust shy of officially operating one month in the regulated New Jersey online gambling market, nj.partypoker.com announced their latest effort to give back to New Jersey residents.

The Garden State’s largest online poker room today announced their partnership with Toms River based, non profit Hometown Heroes.  The two will be working together to host a six-month series of poker tournaments named “Restore the Shore”.

Each month, a $20 buy-in tournament will benefit one of the following six New Jersey cities affected by last years devastating Hurricane Sandy; Seaside Heights, Toms River/Ortley Beach, Brick, Union Beach, Ocean Gate and Lavallette.

From the $20 buy-in, $10 will go to the prize pool, and the other $10 will be donated directly to the Hometown Heroes organization.  In a showing of great generosity, Party Poker has also committed to donating an additional $10 directly to Hometown Heroes for each entry throughout the six-month series.

Below is the complete “Restore the Shore” schedule with the respective towns being donated to listed:

January 4, 2014 –  Seaside Heights
February 1, 2014Tom’s River / Ortley Beach
March 1, 2014Brick
April 5, 2014Union Beach
May 3, 2014Ocean Gate
June 7, 2014Lavallette

It’s great to see the state’s number one poker site already being charitable and giving back to the community.  Hopefully as the overall online regulated gambling market in New Jersey continues to grow, so will the charitable giving of the online gambling sites.

Far too long, the un-regulated U.S. online gambling industry has been shrouded in secrecy, and perceived as an overall shady industry.  With the countries largest regulated online poker operator announcing this initiative today however, as players, we can hope that the perception of online gambling and online gambling operators is about to turn over a new leaf in the U.S.

And while on the topic of online poker tournaments in New Jersey, January 2014 is looking to be one for the record books.  In addition to the nightly guarantees and outstanding Sunday Majors, there are 3 notable tournaments that should be on the radars of all New Jersey online poker players.

1. New Jersey’s Next Poker Millionaire –  What’s there not to like about a tournament series where the final table is played at The Borgata, and the winner is going to walk away with $1,000,000 in cold hard cash!

2. WSOP.com New Jersey Online Championships Tournament Series – A tournament series with over $1,000,000 in guarantees, and (2) $250,000 freerolls.  How often do players get a chance to freeroll twice in a month for $250,000.  Not to mention the overlays in many of the buy-in events could be significant.

3. Borgata 2014 Winter Poker Open Online Qualifiers – A World Poker Tour televised $10,000 Championship event with $3,000,000 guaranteed.  And the only online qualifiers in New Jersey are at BorgataPoker.com.  How much better could it really get than that?

January 2014 will definitely be one to remember for online poker players in the Garden State.  Aside from a few glitches such as geo-location issues, and occasional credit card processing problems, the overall first 30 days of regulated online poker in New Jersey has been a success.

With the investment into the state, as well as the charitable giving that companies like nj.partypoker.com are taking part in, New Jersey has indeed become the regulated online gambling market that all other emerging markets will more than likely try to emulate.
