This year has been a good one for online gaming in the state of New Jersey, at least for casino operations. The online casinos of the state continue to make solid gains, with the potential for the overall industry to reach the $250 million revenue mark by the end of the year. The Division of Gaming Enforcement released the November totals yesterday, with online casinos seeing a nice increase in year-over-year totals while online poker continues to fall short.
For November, the total amount earned during the month was $20,610,216. Of that amount, $18,800,417 was produced by online casinos while poker brought in only $1,809,799. This is a 25% YOY increase for casino operations online and a staggering 13% drop for poker when compared to YOY totals.
When it comes to iPoker in the state, Caesars was the only licensee to see an increase in revenues last month. The jump was most likely contributed to the New Jersey Poker Classic of 888poker and WSOP NJ. PokerStars produced poor numbers for the month, dropping just over 11% when compared to October earnings, with only $693,463 in revenues.
The Borgata online poker network also did poorly, despite the fact of now offering new brands to their network. Scores and playMGM were unable to help the network see an increase, and Borgata was subject to a continuation of their four-month drop in earnings.
As far as online casino gaming is concerned, operators continue to make headway. The industry has seen nine months of consecutively hitting the $20 million or exceeding that amount. When comparing November earnings to October, online casino operators saw an increase of 5.1%.
For now, all eyes are on the state to see what December will bring. Now that November totals are in, the state has been able to earn $224.8 million for the year. If December numbers are good, New Jersey could reach that $250 million mark or higher.
