Nominations Now Open for Women in Poker Hall of Fame

The Women in Poker Hall of Fame have now announced that nominations are now open for women to be nominated to be inducted. The nominations have changed this year and now the public has the power to submit names for induction into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame.

In the past nominations were open to members of the Hall of Fame only but now anyone can nominate a qualified candidate for consideration. Karina Jett a board member commented that the nomination process is important and that the board feels that there are women out there who are eligible and deserving. Jett commented that they are inviting the public to help them assemble worthy candidates for this year’s ballot.

To be eligible for consideration a candidate must have been an active player in the industry or an industry leader for a minimum of fifteen years. The woman must have contributed to the world of poker in a significant way as well as won a major tournament. If she has not won a major tournament she must have made a significant contribution to the industry. The nominated must be a proponent of women’s poker, taking the time to support women’s events even if she does not compete.

Not only will the public be able to nominate players they will also be able to vote on who will be inducted as well. The public vote will go towards 50% of the results. Voting will be open to the public on May 16th at the Women in Poker Hall of Fame website. Each person is allowed to add three candidates with their vote.
