New Jersey Regulated Online Poker Update

new jersey flagNew Jersey Online Poker and Casino Websites Open for Registration

Five websites have opened for player registrations in New Jersey.  They are Borgatacasino.com, Goldennuggetpoker.com, Partypokernj.com, Tropicana.net and Ucasino.com.  Players that preregister may be able to participate in New Jersey’s soft launch scheduled for November 21, 2013.  If all goes according to plan, the sites will open to the public on November 26, 2013.  More sites may be ready to go live by the deadline.

Update: Pokerfuse reported in October that Betfair launched two websites to register players.  They are Letsplaynj.com and Betfairnj.com.  Betfair will award a trip to London or Hawaii and $1,000 in spending money.

Seven Partnerships Approved for Transactional Waivers

Seven Atlantic City casinos have received transactional waivers from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to participate in the regulated online gaming market.  The casinos are:

Caesars – Partnered with Caesars Interactive and Amaya Gaming affiliates.

Tropicana – Partnered with Gamesys and affiliates.

Bally’s – Partnered with Caesars Interactive and 888.

Trump Taj Mahal – Partnered with Fertitta Acquisitionsco (Ultimate Gaming).

Golden Nugget – Partnered with Bally Gaming, SHFL, Amaya and affiliated companies.

Borgata – Partnered with Bwin.party and Amaya Gaming affiliates.

Trump Plaza – Partnered with GameAccount (Betfair), SHFL, Amaya Gaming and affiliated companies.

Resorts International and PokerStars did not receive a transactional waiver in the first wave of approvals.  Wynn was also absent from the list of approvals from New Jersey gaming regulators.  There may be announcement with more companies included on November 15th, although neither is guaranteed to be on the list.

Companies Eligible to Apply for a Transactional Waiver

Eight companies are eligible to apply for a transactional waiver if a brick and mortar casino partnership is created.  Those companies are:

  • Paddy Power North America Inc
  • Genesis Gaming Inc
  • Betable New Jersey LLC
  • Rush Street Interactive
  • Evolution New Jersey LLC
  • Williams Interactive LLC
  • Pala Interactive LLC
  • Scientific Games International Inc

There appear to be three brick and mortar licenses that have not partnered.  Caesars Entertainment owns four potential licenses.  They will use one, license 888 to use another and Wynn has reportedly acquired the rights to a third license.  That leaves Caesars Entertainment one license where the rights may be up for sale.

Atlantic Club and Revel have not announced any public partnership with service providers.  Atlantic Club backed out of an acquisition attempt by PokerStars earlier this year.  It has now entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will reportedly go on the auction block.  Revel entered and exited bankruptcy earlier this year.  There are rumors of a sale there as well.
