Online Gambling Live in Delaware

DE gamblingThe testing phase is now over and earlier today, the state of Delaware went live with their real money online gambling offering. The state has three racinos that are offering virtual casino gaming, making the state the first in the US to offer other options other than online poker.

Players who are at least twenty one years of age will now be allowed to log on to the online casinos and gamble with real money, IF they are located within the borders of the state. Players will have a nice variety of gaming options to choose from, with poker, blackjack, slots and roulette all live as of today. The Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway and Delaware Park are the racinos offer gaming options to players online.

888 Holdings is providing the software to power the online casino and poker games alongside WMS Interactive and Scientific Games. The state lottery is watching over the sites and making sure that all regulations are followed. Delaware would like to attract a young audience with their online options and are hoping that the older gamblers will visit the brick and mortar casinos, allowing all gambling activities in the state to thrive.

It will now be interesting to see how quickly the state moves to create interstate compacts with other online gambling providers such as Nevada and the soon to be New Jersey. Delaware has a small population compared to other states, with less than 1 million people. To create a larger pool of players, the state could create such compacts to allow for players in Nevada or New Jersey to be able to play their offerings as well.

Officials in Nevada have already stated that they would like to work with Delaware with an interstate compact so players will now have to wait and see how long it will take before the states begin to work together to create such compacts.
