Max Steinberg Wins First WSOP Bracelet at Event #33

Event #33 of the 2012 World Series of Poker has come to an end and a total of 2,779 players registered to compete in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament. A slew of top players registered to compete in the event but in the end there could only be one winner and Max Steinberg was able to walk away with his first WSOP bracelet.

When the final day of play began, only fourteen people remained. Players would quickly be eliminated and the pace would be very fast. Eventually game play would slow and it would be some time before any more eliminations would take place.

Eventually, five players would go down rather quickly and this would leave Matt Stout, Samuel Gerber and Steinberg in three handed play. Stout would soon be eliminated and this would signal heads up play. Both players would be relatively even in chips so it was anyone’s game.

After a couple of hands, Steinberg pulled out front and he was able to retain the lead to eventually take Gerber out. On the final hand of the tournament Steinberg came in from the button and Gerber checked. The flop fell 4-3-K and Gerber checked and Steinberg wagered 100,000.

Gerber would take this opportunity to move all in and Steinberg would call. Steinberg held pocket tens and Gerber held 4-10. Gerber looked upset as he had only two outs. An Ace on the turn and a 9 on the river would eliminate Gerber and Steinberg would earn his first ever WSOP bracelet.
