Justin Bonomo Released by Bodog Poker

Justin Bonomo

Bodog Poker announced this week that they have parted ways with poker pro Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo. Justin will no longer be sponsored by the popular online poker room.

With Bonomo out of the picture, Bodog Poker now only has two sponsored pros, Evelyn Ng and David Williams. Jean-Robert Bellande used to be sponsored by the site but he was released from sponsorship last October.

Neither Bodog Poker nor Bonomo have stated a reason for the split, however there does not seem to be any hard feelings between the two. One can be certain that Bonomo’s skills were not a factor.

The Poker pro has been playing quite well under Bodog for the past few months. The poker pro has earned over $2 million in live tournament earnings and a large portion of those earnings were made during the 2009 World Series of Poker. Bonomo cashed out five times during the WSOP all the while showing off the Bodog brand.

Bonomo’s release from Bodog Poker has come as a surprise to many in the poker industry. The past few months poker rooms have been signing players every other week it seems like so for a major poker room to release a sponsored player it is a big surprise.

Even so, Bonomo is a skilled poker player and it should not take long for him to find another poker room to sponsor him. It will definitely be interesting to see who will emerge to try and sign him.
