Day 2 Highlights
Bonomo was the stack leader early on Day 2. Only six players reached the final day after Isaac Haxton burst the money bubble in seventh place late on Day 1. Bonomo used fives full of eights to go all-in and get his first knockout.
Chino Rheem (three-time World Poker Tour winner) used A-2 to make an all-in call for fives full of deuces as a deuce, eight and three fives completed the board. Rheem finished sixth with $46,250, and it was his fourth time to reach a final table in the Poker Masters series. He won $218,400 in Event No.4, finished sixth in Event No.8, and fourth in Event No.6.
The player has amassed $434,640 in the series and 386 PGT points. He is second in the current POY points competition after Vladas Tamasauskas.
Orpen Kisacikoglu finished fifth after his pocket aces lost to Daniel Rezaei’s A-Q. The latter staked most of his chips in preflop and called off the others after the flop earned him a Broadway gutshot.
Rezaei landed a straight on the river before doubling up and improving his chip position to third place, leaving Kisacikoglu with less than ten big blinds. The former used K-J suited to move all-in and lost to Bonomo’s pocket kings.
The pocket pair dominated and eliminated Kisacikoglu in the fifth position with $74,000. Andrew Lichtenberger used pocket jacks to go all-in facing Bonomo’s pocket queens. The board didn’t help the former, and his run ended in fourth place with $101,750.
Bonomo used pocket kings to make a small blind raise, and Chidwick used pocket queens to place a big blind three-bet. Yet, the latter called off fast after the former made a four-bet shove. The larger pair dominated and eliminated Chidwick in third place.
Rezaei used pocket sixes to double up the first hand of his battle of the blinds against Bonomo. The former used pocket sevens to double again against the latter’s A-2.
Bonomo made a hero call that earned him the stack lead. Rezaei called as each player got two pair from the QClub Suit on the river.
Bonomo used queens and aces to go all-in, while Rezaei used deuces and queens to check. Still, Rezaei called and finished second with $222,000 as Bonomo won the title.
