Jeremy Eyer, a Mississippi resident, stunned his supporters when he won $649,550, and his maiden World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in the 2023 WSOP $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em Eight-Max Freezeout event. It had 735 entrants.
This was Eyer’s biggest score in his career as it exceeded the $144,384 he won after finishing third in the Million Dollar Heater $1,200 main event several weeks ago. The poker pro garnered 1,824 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points in the tournament.
It was his fifth final-table and first title in 2023. Yet, he has won over $927,000 in POY events this year hence improving his position in the 2023 POY standings to 12th place.
The Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas hosted the tournament between June 4 and June 6. It had a $3,381,000 prize pool which its leading 111 players shared.
Eyer had the largest stack early on Day 3 and competed with 15 players. Some of the top players who got busted in the day’s first levels included Jesse Lonis, Christina Gollins, and Yuval Bronshtein.

How Things Unfolded at the Table
Shiva Dudani (2020 WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Hammon main event champion) left the tournament in eighth place. Ramos busted Ivan Galinec in the seventh position after his pocket jacks dominated his opponent’s pocket fours. Jeffrey Halcomb lost a preflop race to Jinho Hong and finished sixth.
Hong’s pocket nines beat Halcomb’s A-Q in an outflip. Ronald Minnis became the table’s short stack as five-handed action kicked off. He used A-2 suited to put his chips all-in against Nozomu Shimizu’s A-10 and exited the event in fifth place.
Shimizu used 10-9 suited to make a four-bet shove against Hong’s three-bet. The latter used A-K to call, while the former got tens and queens thus winning the hand.
Hong didn’t give up for a while. Unfortunately, he used Q-10 to move all-in and lost to Eyer’s pocket eights hence finishing fourth with $208,158. Reports show that Hong has won almost $1.8 million in recorded poker events.
Shimizu’s dropped to the last player in the chip standings. He used A-10 to go all-in from the big blind in his final hand, and Ramos made a small blind limp. The latter used A-Q to call and dominated a jack-high runout to end Shimizu’s run in the third position.
Ramos used JSpade SuitJHeart Suit to make a button raise and Eyer used QSpade SuitQDiamond Suit to place a three-bet. The latter called the former fast after shoving a four-bet. Yet, the board ran out QHeart Suit7Diamond Suit7Club Suit9Heart Suit2Club Suit and eliminated Ramos in second place with $401,460.
