However, you don’t often see a poker legend selling his six-figure-worth home every day.
Phil Hellmuth, a 15-time WSOP bracelet winner, decided to sell his home in Las Vegas. He tweeted that his home in Vegas is on sale and asked for the price of $430,000.
He also added that he was using a realtor, Karina Jett, to help him with selling the house. Jett is also a professional poker player and Hellmuth’s friend. The legendary poker guru also posted pictures of his home on social media, stating that it’s located in the Las Vegas Country Club.
The house was built in 1974, according to Zillow – a professional real estate website. Matt Salsberg, WPT Season XI PoY and a writer, stated that the house still features its original furnishings.
Hellmuth’s House Attracted a Lot of Attention
Hellmuth’s fans soon started asking some questions about the house, and an interesting one was actually answered by the poker player. A Twitter user asked him whether that was the same house where Hellmuth was seen meditating in the legendary ESPN segment that took place during the WSOP Main Event.
The segment discussed how Hellmuth prepares mentally for playing poker, and one of the famous shots was him just meditating on a balcony. Hellmuth confirmed this.
But it seems that Hellmuth was asking for a lot of money, as some of his followers decided to look up how much the house should cost on some real estate websites. It turns out that the poker pro overpriced his estate for anywhere between $70,000 and $105,000, depending on where you look.
According to Zillow, the property is listed under pre-foreclosure, meaning the bank could actually be the new owner unless Hellmuth manages to sell it.
Hellmuth is one of the most popular poker players in the world. He currently holds the record for having the most WSOP gold bracelets — 15 of them.
Hellmuth earned a total of $23.4 million by playing poker and is currently located on the 22nd place on the all-time money list. He still actively plays his favorite card game.
Although Hellmuth’s official residence is Las Vegas, he was born in Wisconsin. He won his first WSOP bracelet in 1989 and continued to do so until 2018.
His biggest WSOP cash came after winning the 2012 WSOPE No-Limit Hold ’em Main Event when he won €1,022,376 for his effort. Apart from NLHE, he also has bracelets from pot-limit hold ’em, limit hold ’em and seven-card razz.
He joined in fighting the coronavirus by creating a two-hour-long poker session in April, which he sold for $17,000. All of the money he earned was donated to the COVID-19 charity.
