A total of 401 entries were recorded in the 20201 Jacksonville Spring Series $2,500 Main Event sponsored by bestbet. The final prize pool that entrants created was $898,242, and the remaining 54 players returned to compete for the main prizes on Day 2.
In the end, a player named Hal Rotholz from New York, was the one to win in the tournament, taking home a total of $180,986 and 1080 POY Points. He was ahead of Jacob Ferro, who had to settle for a total of $120,658 and 900 POY Points.
At the start of Day 2, Rotholz had a stack that was just a bit above the average. However, after two hours in play, he managed to almost double his stack size and climbed to the top 10 players when it comes to the chip number. Day 2 Overview
After 54 players returned to the tables, they were only three places away from bursting the money bubble. The first three eliminations that took place soon after to burst the bubble were Ken Taffaro, Aaron Thivyanathan, and Filipp Khavin. After that, it was time for players such as Nick Raio, Jack Summer, and Justin Zaki to bust, and the tournament narrowed down to four tables.
Players continued to fall, and some of the ones who failed to make it to the final table were James Calderaro and Byron Kaverman. After some time, the top eight players emerged, forming the final table.
The first one who was supposed to hit the rail was Johnny Landreth, who came into the final table with the shortest stack. However, he managed to double up and avoid being kicked out of the game. Instead of him, the first player to leave the final table was Dustin Holladay from Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, who managed to win a total of $22,876.
The next player to wave goodbye to the rest was Stephen Strout, who was sent to the rail by Jake Ferro. St. Augustine, Florida resident, was officially placed in the seventh position and won a total of $29,280.
After him, it was time for Brian Arbaugh from Akron, Ohio, to leave the tournament as a sixth-placed player. He managed to win a total of $37,941 for his effort.
The fifth place was reserved for David Jackson from Jacksonville, Florida. David earned $49,767.
Johnny Landreth made it to fourth place, where he eventually had to hit the rail. The player from Lanett, Alabama, managed to win a total of $66,069.
The last player to hit the rail before the heads-up was Kyle Cartwright from Arlington, Tennessee, who won $88,761.
