Gorman Wins Main Event Of WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Cherokee

Another World Series of Poker Circuit stop has wrapped up with the conclusion of the $1,700 Main Event. The stop was at Harrah’s Cherokee in Cherokee, NC, and the person who had the most benefit from it was Erik Gorman, who managed to top the field of 1,000 and earn a total of $260,480.

As he was wearing apparel from his favorite team, the Baltimore Ravens, for good luck, Gorman had a fantastic run and managed to capture a ring that he had been waiting for a very long time. In fact, he had an opportunity to capture the ring on a couple of occasions, especially in 2014 when he ended up third in the very same tournament.

This is definitely the biggest live win of his career, and it is almost twice as much compared to his second-largest cash. The amount of money Gorman had earned playing poker before winning the latest prize was $216,606.

Gorman’s story in this tournament is somewhat familiar, as there have been hundreds of similar poker stories. He started as a complete underdog and had almost no chips at the start of the day when the last 15 players returned to the poker tables. However, he managed to play well, increase his chip number and, eventually, become the winner of the tournament.

Two hands, in particular, played a very important role, and they happened immediately after the start of the day. In fact, they were the second and the fourth hands of the day, and Gorman once again had a chance to compete for the final prize, which he successfully did.

He emerged as a chip leader and remained that way until the end. One of the hands that he identified as essential in his victory was played against Kyle Cartwright. Cartwright had pocket nines, only to stumble upon Gorman’s pocket aces, which gave Gorman a huge advantage for further hands.

The Final Table

The final table consisted of 10 players, and the first one to leave it was Spencer Champlin, who won $21,114. He was soon followed by Randall Roghwell from Tennessee, who ended up with $26,304 in his pocket. The next in line was Ken Aldridge from North Carolina for $33,098.

Seventh place was occupied by Marshall White, also from North Carolina. White earned $42,058. Gorman’s lucky opponent Cartwright ended up sixth and earned $53,968. The only non-American player was Fikret Kovac from Bosnia & Herzegovina. He ended up fifth and earned $69,920.

Ryan Jones from North Carolina was fourth and won $91,459, and Michael Kassem from Tennessee was the last one to hit the rail before heads-up play, earning $120,770 along the way.

The last two players were Hannah Guthrie from Montgomery, Ala., and Gorman, who is from Maryland. Gorman was dominant in the heads-up duel and did not take long to take down the event. Guthrie had to settle for second place and the consolation prize of $160,978.
