Frank Stepuchin Eyes Another World Poker Tour Gardens Poker Championship Title

Frank Stepuchin is a retired realtor who won his first cash prize of $548,825 in the 2019 $10,000 World Poker Tour (WPT) Gardens Poker Championship. The poker pro defeated renowned players such as Ray Qartomy, Steve Sung, and Shannon Shorr in that tournament.

Stepuchin is fondly called “Frank the Tank” and is determined to win his second WPT title in the $5,250 buy-in WPT Gardens Poker Championship that Gardens Casino will host. He hasn’t changed his playing strategy since 2019, as he is often loud at the table and approachable.

He stated in a media interview that he easily makes friends with decent individuals. Yet, Stepuchin is optimistic he will have a great run in this year’s WPT.

More Details About His Rail

The poker pro beat all odds when he won his first WPT title in 2019. He reached that event’s final table with a huge chip lead that excited his rail in Luxor’s HyperX Esports Arena.

Stepuchin revealed that his rail had 40 friends, the largest one at that time. He drank beer and held a two-day party for his supporters. Even so, he has only read one poker book in the past and isn’t interested in studying a lot.

He made friends with each opponent in the six-handed final table, including Jonathan Abdelatif, who he interacted with for several hours before the event kicked off. The player confessed that he was friends with Shorr, who had more experience in poker than him.

Stepuchin has stated several times he will get coached with Kristen Foxen, Chance Kornuth, or Alex Foxen, as they are more knowledgeable in the game. He won the 2019 event’s last hand, which gave him an edge over Shorr, who had won a few simultaneous hands.

Is Stepuchin Up to the Task?

The pro hasn’t yet qualified for another well-paying final table. Cavin Quintanilla, Gardens Casino’s Tournament Manager, disclosed that Stepuchin is in the room. The player has resided in Manhattan Beach for 14 years and appeared to be shy when he entered Day 1a action.

He geared up after several hours tossing football on the table while Buckner scored a touchdown. Stepuchin ran around the room when Qartomy playfully chased him. The two players have been friends since they first met in the 2019 WPT.

Many poker community members are Stepuchin’s friends. But his antics aren’t appropriate for some people. He stated that poker players make up most of his friends, unlike fans.

Stepuchin added that some characters clique with specific people while other groups dislike them. But he isn’t discriminative when interacting with other players. His antics aren’t the only unique thing about him.

The player didn’t solely concentrate on beer, as his final card earned him the 2019 WPT title. Instead, he was concerned about how his late mother would feel if she would have watched him playing.
