When a player wins a gold bracelet, they are on the top of the world. However, some of them weren’t happy with just one bracelet. As a matter of fact, they wanted more — and got more. Therefore, let’s take a look at who the bracelet winners are and how they achieved winning more than one bracelet.
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth is the absolute winner of the WSOP bracelet race. “Poker Brat” has been playing poker for a very long time, and he is not a stranger to using his eccentric personality to get what he wants, even in poker.
It’s no secret that Hellmuth loves playing WSOP events. Apart from 15 bracelets, he made it 57 times to the final table and achieved as many as 154 money finishes. His biggest achievement was winning the Main Event of the WSOP back in 1989. Hellmuth was only 25 when he won that bracelet.
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey is five bracelets behind Hellmuth, as he managed to win a total of 10 gold bracelets in his WSOP events. Ivey is one of the most popular poker players in the world, with exceptional attention to detail and natural talent for playing poker.
He also mastered playing other card games, such as baccarat, which has also become his biggest problem, as he is currently in a legal battle over alleged baccarat cheating.
Ivey made it to the final table 31 times and had 59 money finishes.
Johnny Chan
Johnny Chan also has a total of 10 WSOP bracelets. This professional Chinese-American poker player has been playing poker actively for a very long time and made a lasting impression on many WSOP players.
One of the things he managed to do is win back-to-back WSOP titles. He took down the main event in 1987 and repeated the same thing a year after that. That way, he became a poker legend, just like Doyle Brunson, Stu Ungar, and Johnny Moss.
Doyle Brunson
If there’s one person that’s the face of poker, that’s the Godfather of this game — Doyle Brunson. Just like Chan and Ivey, Brunson managed to record 10 WSOP bracelets. He also managed to win the Main Event twice.
At the time of writing this article, Brunson is 86, alive and kicking — and even playing poker from time to time, although not as actively as before.
Johnny Moss
Johnny Moss won a total of nine bracelets, but he is one of the people most responsible for the popularity of the World Series of Poker. He won the first-ever main event and repeated the same thing a year after that.
He did the same thing in 1974. To this date, Moss and Stu Ungar remain the only competitors to have won the Main Event three times.
