David Baker Earns First WSOP Bracelet with Event #37 Win

The 2012 World Series of Poker continues and several events have finished up over the weekend. Event #37 was one such event. This tournament was an Eight-Game Mix event with a buy-in of $2,500. Players would be competing in a variety of games which included: Triple-Draw 2-7, Limit Hold’em, Omaha 8, Razz, Stud, Stud 8, No-Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha.

The event saw 477 players register to compete and David Baker was able to outlast the field and earn his first ever WSOP bracelet. Eight players would make the official final table and after a few hours and various games played, David Baker and Greg Mueller would be left in heads up play.

When heads up play began, Mueller held a significant chip lead at 4 to 1. However, Baker was not giving up and he would slowly chip away at the chip lead and the tournament would break to return for day 4 of play.

Baker would then battle back and earn the chip lead. Mueller would make a small comeback but Baker would continue to push so he could earn his first WSOP bracelet.

On the last hand the two would face off in the game of Razz. Both players would receive an Ace to start but Baker would hold the lead. With both all in the hands looked like this:

Mueller 3x Qx/Ax 8x 4x Qx/8

Baker: 2x 10x/Ax 6x 7x 3x/5x

Baker would earn the win on sixth and Mueller would simply say: “Good game, David” and it was all over. The two shook hands and Baker earned his first WSOP bracelet of his career.
